New York State Senator Kevin Parker, who voted for the 2021 Adult Survivors Act that allowed Trump’s civil lawsuit, now deems it ‘unconstitutional’ following rape accusation. His argument comes as he is facing rape allegations from Olga Jean-Baptiste. The alleged assault happened in 2004 when the two worked together on Haitian relief.

The 2021 Adult Survivors Act enabled alleged victims to file civil lawsuits even if the statute of limitations had already elapsed. Thanks to this law, the lawsuit against Parker over the 2004 allegations was able to proceed. The lawsuit was filed in November 2023, which fell within the window of time created by the new law.

Parker had voted in favor of a law that has since expired in 2021. When a rape lawsuit was filed against him last year, he highlighted his vote, arguing that he did so to ensure that all New Yorkers could seek justice and be heard. This same law was also used by E. Jean Carroll in a 2022 lawsuit against former President Trump, whom Carroll claimed had sexually assaulted her in 1995 or 1996.

Parker denied the allegations, stating that they were entirely false. He also mentioned that he would continue his work and advocacy. According to the New York Post, Parker has always been a controversial figure due to his apparent bad temper. The newspaper also reported that in 2005, Parker was charged with a misdemeanor assault after punching a traffic officer in the face. This happened after the officer wrote him a ticket for double-parking in New York City.

In 2009, Parker was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief and assault. This was after he chased a New York Post photographer and damaged his camera, breaking his finger. Eventually, he was found guilty of misdemeanor criminal mischief charges and ordered to attend anger-management classes, as noted in a report from the New York Post.
